St. Joseph Hospital

St. Joseph Hospital is a Council Designated Hospital in Moshi Municipal Council in Kilimanjaro Region owned and managed by the Registered Trustees of the Sisters of Our Lady of Kilimanjaro in Moshi Diocese. It was founded by Mother Sr. Cecilia Mbuya CDNK, who served as the first African Superior General of the Congregation. It was officially opened by, Rev. Bishop Amedeus Msarikie on 13/06/2001 as a Health Centre. In 2004 it was upgraded to a full functioning Hospital.

In the year 2009, the Hospital signed a Service Agreement with Moshi Municipal to become Council Designated Hospital. The hospital started with a bed capacity of 60 and has increased to 150 by the year 2022, with OPD daily attendance ranging from 150 – 250 and patients admitted per day ranging from 15-25.

The hospital’s In-Patient specialties are General Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, the hospital provides specialized medical services in the areas of Orthopedics surgery, Laparoscopic surgery, Endoscopy, Hemodialysis and ENT.

HOW WE STARTED?

In 2023, MWIKA and KCMC collaborated on a project at St. Joseph Hospital with the primary goal of establishing a secure connection between St. Joseph and KCMC.

This connection facilitates the secure exchange of medical information, thereby enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare in Moshi.
Furthermore, MWIKA deployed hardware to expand and improve the network infrastructure at St. Joseph Hospital. MWIKA is working with St. Joseph to further improve the ICT infrastructure.
